I had a guy bring me in an old Mac Book Pro that had a corrupted hard drive. I saved his Data but then realized his computer was so old that I was going to have trouble getting a copy of OSX installed. His computer was no longer supported on current OSX releases. To make things worse his DVD drive wouldn't read a install disk. So this post is the result of me finding a way to resurrect an old Mac Book Pro. I hope it will help someone else in a similar situation.

One of my favorite features in Apple's iOS 9 release is the ability to turn the iPad's on-screen keyboard into a trackpad, an extremely useful addition that power users will love.
With Apple's iOS 9 upgrade, the iPad lineup and the upcoming iPad Pro gets special attention to enhance productivity on the big-screen tablets, including an all-new split-screen multitasking mode that will allow users to more easily accomplish two tasks at once.
Apple has not released an Operating system that came on bootable media since it released OSX 10.7 in 2009. Apple has went to download-only installers, but if you find your self in need of a bootable installer your in luck. If you find yourself doing multiple installs, a USB drive is much faster than multiple downloads.
There are two options that will allow you to turn your downloaded 10.11 install into a bootable USB installer. There's the easy way with the graphical user interface and the advanced way that requires Terminal use.
Gmail groups together emails with the same subject in conversation threads. Make your subject a specific headline for your message so that the right messages are linked together and easier to find. Consider including action words in your subject so it’s clear what you want people to do. If the topic changes later, just change the subject accordingly. That way, you won’t have any unrelated messages linked together in your inbox.
I manage the IT Help Desk at Southern Utah University. We see a wide variety of problems on a wide variety of devices. Today we don't just help people with a desktop or notebook computer alone. Times have changed and now most users have multiple devices. It is very common to have faculty, staff, and students that come to campus with a laptop, smart phone and tablet. Because of this I get calls and emails on a daily basis from users that are having a Contact Crisis. What I mean by that is they have ether a ton of duplicate contacts, contacts on there University Gmail account are not syncing to there phone, or they just have no clue why that contacts they added on their iPad never showed up on their other devices. To further complicate things most people have multiple emails that they have connected to their phone, computer and tablet.
Target Display Mode lets you use a Mac as the external display for another “primary” Mac. In some cases, you can also play the sound from your primary Mac on the speakers of the external Mac. For example, a MacBook Pro could use a 27-inch iMac as the display and play its audio on the iMac as well.
OS X Mavericks adds a bunch of smily faces that automatically replace the text-based versions you type, but you can call them up anytime you like. Just press Command+Control+Space to get an extensive panel of emoticons/emoji and special characters you can insert into any text box.
